52 Weeks to a More Organized Home | #2 Laundry

Welcome!  I have decided that 2016 is my year to get my house in order for real.  I’ve created a week-by-week guide focusing on one area at a time.  Yes, I realize a year is a long time.  But I believe it’s the time line needed to make the thorough and permanent changes.  No more surface organizing – we’re getting down and dirty!

So let’s get started!  Each week we will have an assignment, an area of the home to clean up, clean out and organize.  And since cluttered homes are harder to keep organized, there will be an additional challenge each week to help you purge items from your home!

52 Weeks to a More Organized Home | #2 Laundry

Laundry is the bane of my existence.  And to get my house more organized the first thing I have to do is get all this laundry out of the way.  I have a tendency to let it sit in baskets until it get used instead of putting it away.

So this week, we are going to take EVERY basket of laundry, every hamper and every pile and make sure it is all washed AND PUT AWAY.

This is also a good time straighten up your laundry room or “area” (my washer/dryer is in a corner of the basement).

Here’s a good tip to help you clean out your closets too:

Your additional challenges this week:

  • To make putting laundry away easier, find at least FIVE articles of clothing from every family member to put in the yard sale/donate boxes we set up last week.  Or if you do hand-me-downs for the kids, pack away any items that no one can wear now that could be used later.
  • Go in your bedroom and find at least THREE things to add to your yard sale/donate boxes or put in the trash.
  • Find FIVE things that are misplaced in the house and return them to their places.
  • If you’re doing the 2016 Clean Out  Challenge you’ll need to toss out 42 items this week.

Are you going to join me in having a more organized home?  Comment below!  Leave your tips, questions and suggestions!  Let us know how your week went.  Also, tell me about problem areas in your house – everyone’s home is different and I want to make sure we cover all areas during our 52 weeks!

And don’t forget to come back next week!
