2014 Backpack Challenge: How many School Supplies did I get for $25?

I love when I can give back through couponing and Back to School time is a great time to help because you can get school supplies for cheap!   Consider picking up a few extra supplies to help out less fortunate students!

Two years ago I participated in a Backpack Challenge.  I’m happy to be participating again!

I was provided $25 by our sponsor Ebates to purchase a backpack and school supplies. I was not compensated in any other way for this post. #givingbackpack #ebates

I had $14.85 to spend so on my last round of shopping this is how I spent it:

Everything in this picture came from Target.  I used mobile coupons, Target coupons, printable coupons and insert coupons plus a $5 gift card back on school supplies to score all this with what I had left to spend after my first two shopping trips here and here.

And then I ran to Staples this week to get a FREE ream of copy paper and FREE pens.  They didn’t make it into the picture because they were last minute purchases.  (I thought I was done when I took these pictures last week.)  But FREE is FREE so I couldn’t pass up that opportunity to get two more items!

Here’s what I ended up with after spending $25 on school supplies:

  • 1 backpack
  • 7 single subject notebooks
  • 3 poly pocket folders
  • 5 paper pocket folders with prongs
  • 2 Mead five star pocket folders with prongs
  • 2 packs of glue sticks (totaling 6 glue sticks)
  • 2 bottles school glue
  • 2 mini staplers with extra staples
  • 8 packs of 24ct crayons
  • 1 pack of colored pencils
  • 1 pack of markers
  • 2 packs of mechanical pencils (16 pencils total)
  • 2 packs of wooden #2 pencils (16 pencils total)
  • 1 pack of 100 index cards
  • 1 school box

  • 1 pack Post-it notes
  • 1 pack of Sharpies (2ct)
  • 3 packs of filler notebook paper
  • 1 ream of copy paper
  • 1 pack of pens (4ct)

That’s a total of 48 school supply items (including a backpack) for just $25!!

It’s proof that a little really can go a long way to helping others!

Thanks again to the sponsor of the backpack challenge for giving me the opportunity to give back!
