backpackchallengeI love when I can give back through couponing and Back to School time is a great time to help because you can get school supplies for cheap!   Consider picking up a few extra supplies to help out less fortunate students!

Two years ago I participated in a Backpack Challenge.  I’m happy to be participating again!

I was provided $25 by our sponsor Ebates to purchase a backpack and school supplies. I was not compensated in any other way for this post. #givingbackpack #ebates

This isn’t all I purchased, it’s just the first round.  I wanted to give you an update as I went along.

My first stop last week was Staples.  I had $2 in Staples rewards to spend so I picked up glue sticks ($1.25), ruler ($.25) and crayons ($.50).  I also picked up the 2 pack of Sharpies for $1.99 but I submited for the $1.99 easy rebate making them FREE!

So after my first trip to Staples I’ve spent $0 of my $25.

Next I went to Office Depot where I needed some items for myself and since I had a qualifying purchase I was able to pick up 2 pocket paper portfolios with prongs for just $.01 each.  Office Depot trip cost $.05 of my $25.

At Walmart I grabbed 2 Mead Five Star folders for just $.94 after coupon and a $.25 notebook.  Walmart trip cost $1.19.  Now I’m down $1.24 of my $25.

And I needed to get a backpack to put it all in!  Fortunately, this week Walgreen’s has backpacks for $2.99!  At Walgreen’s I spend $2.99 on a backpack.

So my total for everything in the picture above is just $4.23.  That leaves me with $20.77 to spend on more school supplies!

Thanks again to the sponsor of the backpack challenge for giving me the opportunity to give back!

In my area, there are tons of organizations, that hand out loaded backpacks. So I used my $ and savings to donate to the classroom. In hopes of helping the teacher directly. I also donated my kids, forgotten puzzles, and games. Just another idea, everyone can help each other out!
