In the summer of 2008 I was paying $1.99/gallon for milk at Aldi. (It was $1.49 when I first started shopping their earlier that year) I was pregnant and drinking close to 2 gallons a week. I think milk at Walmart at that time was close to $3.00.
Last year milk at Aldi went WAY up. I stopped one day only to find that it was as much at Aldi at the store brand at my local grocer. Totally not worth the extra trip! So I’ve been paying $3.69 for a while now when I make my weekly trip to Winn-Dixie. Last time I was at Aldi (though not there to get milk) I saw it at $3.89. I couldn’t believe it was higher than store brand!
I know milk prices are HIGHLY regional and those of you that commented on Facebook yesterday that you can get it for $1.99 (or less!) are lucky!
Birmingham Bargain Mom reported that the Aldi’s in our area have dropped the price of milk down to $2.99. Might be worth the time to drop in now at that price. Especially if I buy two gallons at a time.

In Texas:
The cheapest I’ve seen on Borden’s is $3.44.
Oak Farms goes on sale at CVS for under $3 (sometimes it’s 2.49 sometimes it’s 2.19).
Walmart’s brand is $3.98 and Borden’s is at $4.12!
Target’s brand is sometimes $2.79, but most of the time at $3.39
The best deal I’ve seen all year is at Kroger. 2 for $5 on Springdale milk. Keep in mind that my Kroger no longer doubles or triples so this deal is *probably* their way of making up for that.
Most of the time here in Canandaigua, NY our Wegmans has skim milk on sale for $1.99/gallon. 1%, 2% are the same price. While milk is $2.09. They usually keep it on sale for extended periods of time.
At our Aldi in Ocoee, FL today we paid $3.09/gallon. Ugh. It was $2.99 for a long time, but recently has gone up.
In South Texas, HEB is usually around $3.39, but will sometimes compete with smaller stores (Super S) and do the 2 for $5 sale. I always buy 2 gallons at a time, so there’s a couple of gallons in the extra refrigerator.
