Saturday’s Saving Tips – Brown Bagging Your Lunch

Eating out for lunch every day is quite expensive!  “Brown Bagging” or taking your own lunch to work every day is an affordable option.

Brown bagging is not just about sandwiches everyday.  You can get creative about what you take for lunch.  My husband likes to take hot dogs as well as cups of Ramen noodle soup or slices of leftover pizza.  All you need is access to a microwave to make either of these options work.

Salads are easy to whip together to take for lunch.

If you invest in good, quality microwaveable containers, taking leftovers is even possible.  (And can be quite good!)  Just make sure you have access to a refrigerator at work to keep your leftovers cool.

From the rare occasions where I do grab a bite at a drive thru, I be sure to keep extra condiment packages (if you ask for ketchup, mayonnaise, dressing, etc – they’re likely to give you twice as much as you need – keep the extra.)  These are great way to have what you need for your sandwiches, hot dogs, salads, etc, in a convenient package.
