Just in case you were curious, here’s a few quick facts about me:
- I am 26 years old
- I am a mom to the cutest almost 2 year old little boy ever!
- I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 5 years

- I live in the same small town in Alabama that I was raised in
- I am a Christian
- I having a full-time job teaching preschool
Why do I clip coupons?
My husband was laid off from his job in the summer of 2009 and was out of work for a month. Our son was 7 months old. We were a “paycheck to paycheck” kind of family and we drained what little savings we had to stay afloat until he got another job.
I always knew that we should have had more in savings and less debt but I always thought there would be time to work on that. Now I know that circumstances don’t check to make sure you are ready before they occur.
So I got serious about clipping coupons and shopping smarter and saving money. I started the blog to record my efforts. Between July and September, I cut our monthly spending on groceries by $200!!
We have some credit cards we need to pay off and we need to build up our savings. But I also want to, hopefully in the next year or so, spend less time working outside the home and have more time for my son.
I came up with the title for the blog because that is literally what I’m trying to do. I’m trying to save toward a better life for our family. I don’t want to live “paycheck to paycheck” anymore and I don’t want us to have to use our credit cards just to be able to take a vacation or do something special.
I do work a full-time job outside of the home which goes to show that if I can find time to clip coupons and search for good deals, while working a full-time job and taking care of a home and toddler – then ANYONE can do it! :)
Also, I started the My Five Things portion of my blog to help myself with time management…because I’m not so great at that! :)
And I hope that my blog will help someone else make changes toward a better life for them too! :)
