How to Make Your Vinted Listings Stand Out: Tips from a Seller (and Shopper!)
Have you joined Vinted yet? Want to get more eyes on your Vinted listings? Want to get more Vinted sales? A few simple things can make a big difference! Here are my tips for creating listings that help buyers see exactly what they’re getting and hit that Buy Now button!
Some of these are specific to clothing but there are some good tips for ALL types of listings.
1. Let There Be Light!
Good pictures matter! Take photos in a well-lit area or use your camera flash if needed. Dark pictures just don’t do your items any favors. Let those goodies shine! I hate clicking on a dress because I think it’s black and the listing says it’s navy blue. A well-taken picture will show me that in the beginning.

2. Watch Your Background (and Hang Those Clothes!)
Please, I’m begging you: no clothes on top of busy patterned bedspreads or piles of other clothes. It makes it hard for buyers to see what you’re selling! No more paisley-patterened dresses photographed laid out on a tie-dyed bedspreed!
You don’t need a fancy backdrop, either. My doors are white, so I just hang the item from the door frame with the door as the backdrop. With good lighting or a little flash, it makes an excellent, clean background.
And speaking of hanging things up, clothes generally photograph much better on a hanger than spread out over a bed or couch. It’s a simple trick that makes your listings look much neater!

3. Show the Tag
Always include a picture of the clothing tag! Buyers want to know the brand and size, and the tag may provide other helpful information, too. I bought a dress someone had listed as XL. But it was SHEIN and the tag said it was a 12. It also said XL, but it was most definitely a 12. As someone who is solidly a 14/16 – I was unable to zip the dress. And I was so in love with it, it was super disappointing!
4. Don’t Guess the Fabric
Vinted may suggest materials while you’re creating a listing, but always double-check those suggestions!
Don’t list something as cotton or linen unless you know that’s what it is. If the tag doesn’t identify the fabric, don’t guess. This applies to any material, not just cotton and linen.
Listing the material isn’t required, so it’s perfectly fine to leave it blank if you don’t know. Honesty is always the best policy!

5. Take MULTIPLE Pictures
One picture usually isn’t enough! This goes for everything you’re selling, not just clothing.
Take pictures from different angles so buyers can get a good look at the item. Here are a few things to include:
- Clothing: Front, back, details, tags, and any flaws.
- Shoes and bags: Different angles, interiors, labels, and signs of wear.
- Electronics and household items: All sides, model numbers, identification markings, and any included accessories.
- Items with instructions: Include pictures of the instructions or manual if you have them.
If there’s an identification label on the bottom, flip that baby over and take a picture! The more useful information you provide, the easier it is for buyers to decide whether to purchase.
6. Write an Actual Description
Your description shouldn’t just say “dress.” Give buyers a little more information!
Mention anything a buyer would want to know before purchasing: style, fit, details, condition, normal retail price, etc, etc.
A little effort goes a long way toward helping someone decide whether your item is right for them.
7. Be Honest About Your Home
Buyers often appreciate knowing whether items come from a smoke-free or pet-free home.
Be honest – if you smoke in your home, say that in the listing. Not saying “smoke-free”, is not the same as saying “smoking.” It is nice for sellers to say “smoke-free”. But honestly, that should be the default. The disclosure should be if you DO smoke, you need to say so. And no, washing everything before you package it does not make the smoke smell disappear like you think it does.
And yes, smoke-free includes vaping, too. Sorry, y’all!
The Bottom Line
You don’t need professional photography equipment or fancy descriptions to make a good Vinted listing. Just use clear pictures, provide accurate information, and take a few extra minutes to describe what you’re selling.
Make it easy for buyers to see what they’re getting, and give them a reason to feel confident buying from you!
Happy listing, y’all!
