Stop Sharing Fake Coupons on Facebook | There is no $150 Lowe’s Coupon!

I can’t believe I’m having to stop in the middle of the Black Friday/Christmas shopping madness to make this PSA… but here we are.

This $150 Lowe’s coupon is going around on Facebook.  I guess we didn’t learn our lesson from the $80 Publix coupon, the $150 Dollar General coupon and the $100 Aldi coupon.  Stop!  Just STOP it!

Seriously, do you think any retailer is going to put out a coupon for $150 off???  I am all about coupons and saving money and there are some GREAT savings out there to be had.  BUT YOU GUYS, have you ever heard “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”?  THAT applies to THIS.

Let’s break it down a little more.  How do I know that it’s fake?  (Besides the obvious fact that it’s $150 off your purchase?)

  • No major retailer gives away a coupon to “everyone that shares this link”.   More than likely you’ll have to fill out some info and a coupon will be emailed to you or after you enter your info a printable pops up to be printed.
  • If you can actually SEE the coupon with the barcode and whatnot before you actually sign up for the coupon – that’s a red flag.  They’re not going to just let the barcode be floating out there in cyberspace.
  • This is the big one: THAT’S NOT LOWE’S WEBSITE.  That link does NOT direct you to Lowe’s official dot com webpage.

Please be smarter than this!

This is a phishing scam just like the fake Disney vacation giveaways on Facebook.  They’re looking for gullible people.  Don’t be one.
