Stop Sharing Fake Coupons on Facebook | There is no $80 Publix Coupon

This $80 “Publix coupon” is going around on Facebook.  I guess we didn’t learn our lesson from the $150 Dollar General coupon and the $100 Aldi coupon.  Stop!  Just STOP it!

Seriously, do you think any grocery retailer is going to put out a coupon for $80 off???  I am all about coupons and saving money and there are some GREAT savings out there to be had.  BUT YOU GUYS, have you ever heard “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”?  THAT applies to THIS.

Let’s break it down a little more.  How do I know that it’s fake?  (Besides the obvious fact that it’s $80 off your purchase?)

  • Look at the mismatched fonts.  That’s clearly photoshopped.   Also, Publix doesn’t even use typical scannable UPC barcodes on store coupons – they have a store coupon code.
  • Look at the terms of the coupon.  No one puts “location US” and “valid for all items in store” on a coupon.  There is also no expiration date.
  • This is the big one: THAT’S NOT PUBLIX’S WEBSITE.  That link does NOT direct you to Publix’s official dot com webpage.

Please be smarter than this!

This is a phishing scam just like the fake Disney vacation giveaways on Facebook.  They’re looking for gullible people.  Don’t be one.
