Monday’s Money Saving Recipe – Ranch Potato Fries

Today’s recipe is a good side dish.  I sometimes feel like I get into a rut with my side dishes.  Do you ever feel that way?  Sometimes I spend so much time preparing my main dish that when it’s time to start thinking about sides, I just open a can of corn and a box of mac-n-cheese.  LOL!

Here’s an easy, cheap side dish to really liven up dinner time.  You only need three ingredients and a ziploc bag.

Ranch Potato Fries

Red Potatoes
Dry Ranch Dressing Mix
Olive Oil
Gallon Ziploc Bag

I buy red potatoes but this will work with whatever potatoes you prefer.  I do not peel them.  Again – personal preference.  You can cubed them or slice them into the “homestyle fries”.  (I’ve discovered I can trick Bug into thinking they are french fries is I slice them into fries.)  Just make sure they’re not too thick or they’ll take forever to cook and not to thin or they get “extra crispy”.

Place as many potatoes you wish to fix (already sliced or cubed) in a gallon ziploc bag with about 2 Tbsp olive oil.  (Little more if you’re making A LOT of potatoes.  I never measure…just judge.)

Add one packet of dry ranch dressing mix.

Seal bag and shake until potatoes are coated.

Bake at 400 degrees on cookie sheet until potatoes are done.  At least 20 minutes but this will vary according to which potatoes you use and how thick you slice them.  I would recommend flipping them once after about 10 minutes.

We like to serve them with ranch dressing for dipping!

YUMMY!
