I had $20.42 left for the month for groceries. If you read my post on Sunday you know that I was running a little short because the Hubs wanted ice cream.
I went to Food Giant today to get the 5 meat items deal for $19.99. I knew I was going to go over because of tax. BUT the Land O’ Frost 1lb packs of lunchmeat were part of the pick 5 deal. So I got two of those and used (2) 55c coupons. Today was double coupon day so each coupon was worth $1.10.
So I actually got the 5 items (2 lbs lunch meat, (2) 2.5 lbs packs of ground beef and a 24 pack of hot dogs) for $17.79. I also picked up a tub of Hillshire Farms lunch meat because I had a coupon to get it free that was expiring Friday. And a 64oz bottle of apple juice for 98c.
My pre-tax total was $18.77!!! But unfortunately I have to pay tax on PRE-coupon price. So tax put me at $21.10.
I went 68c over budget. All because the Hubs wanted ice cream. But that’s okay because I still have 5 days to get rebate checks in the mail before the end of the month!
