This Saturday, May 8th, is the Stamp Out Hunger food drive. All you have to do is leave a bag of non-perishables by your mailbox and your letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to a local food bank.
The website says canned vegetables, fruits, meats, juice & soups and boxed pastas, cereals and rice. No expired items and nothing in glass jars. I’m thinking if there is a chance of rain in your area on Saturday, I’d steer clear of anything in a box.
That’s it. Easy as pie! Just put your stuff in a bag and leave it by your mailbox. And since we are all “frugal” you surely have some stuff in your stockpile that you can spare for those in need. I was able to get cans of tomato soup at 9c/2 at Winn-Dixie this weekend. We don’t eat tomato soup but I knew at less than 5c a can it would be a good donate item. I also have a surplus of canned mandarin oranges and canned tuna. So we will be donating some of those too.
Getting to help others can be a treat!
