Let’s remember that Memorial Day is a day to remember and honor fallen soldiers. I try to avoid saying “Happy Memorial Day” because this is not a celebratory holiday like Independence Day.
Memorial Day is to honor those who died serving the country. Veteran’s Day is a day to honor and thank those who served who are still living. Armed Forces Day is the day to honor and thank active military.
With that reminder out of the way, a few places are offering specials for the holiday:
For Veterans and Active Duty Military:
Home Depot – 10% discount is offered to all military veterans on Memorial Day to all veterans up to a maximum of $500. A year round 10% discount is available at all U.S. locations to active duty personnel, reservists, retired or disabled veterans and their immediate families. Must present a valid military ID. Check with your local store to confirm participation.
Hooters – Monday, May 30, military veterans, active duty military & spouses can enjoy one free entree from a pre-determined memorial day menu, including a 10 piece wings, a hooters burger, and more. This offer is at select Hooters locations across the U.S
LaMar’s Donuts – On Memorial Day Monday, active and retired military members can stop into LaMar’s for a free regular doughnut and cup of coffee.
Logan’s Roadhouse – 15% Military discount for active duty military from Saturday May 28 through Monday, May 30. To receive discount, dress in uniform or provide a military ID.
Lowe’s – All Veterans receive a 10% discount on Memorial Day. The Everyday 10% Military Discount is available to those who are currently serving, Retired Veterans, or VA Recipients and their immediate family. Details here.
McAlister’s Deli – Free meal to all active duty military in uniform or with a valid military ID. This offer is valid for one complimentary entree, drink, and desert on Memorial Day Monday May 30, 2016.
