I was scrolling Facebook this morning and came across a discussion in a cat group that I’m in about how to rescue a small kitten hiding in a hole in the wall in a parking garage. All the usual tips were given; stay calm, put out smelly food, stay out of sight, dangle a string, etc, etc.
Then someone mentioned Roto-Rooter does free pet rescues and I had to check this out for myself.
It turns out, they do! From Roto-Rooter (emphasis mine):
Our expert technicians use state-of-the-art machinery, drain/sewer video cameras and even industrial excavation equipment to save the life of an animal in danger. We do all of this work for free* (participating locations) when called upon, seeing it as our duty to the communities we serve. If you think your home or business has drains or pipes that are easily accessible to your dog, cat, or wildlife, contact your local Roto-Rooter. Our professional plumbers can tour your property, assess vulnerabilities and help you find solutions that will keep your property working properly and keep your animals safe. Call the experts at Roto-Rooter for emergency pet rescue service!
It does specifically mention drains, sewers and pipes, so I don’t think Roto-Rooter is going to rescue your cat from a tree and I don’t know if it will work for the hole in the wall situation posted this morning, but I felt like this was something that needed to be know!
They even have photos and stories from their previous rescues! The cute little kitten above was a stray rescued from a storm drain. The employee holding it, rescued it and adopted it!
This is the internet content I’m here for all day.

This is a lie and a PR stunt. Our kitten was stuck in a wall and we were never called back after requesting help.
