Amazon During Coronavirus | How it Affects Customers

I’ve seen a lot of misunderstanding and misinformation about what’s going on at Amazon.  So I dug in to make heads or tails of it for you.

As of March 19th, Prime Pantry is temporarily suspended.

Notice, this is just Prime Pantry. Due to high order volumes, Pantry is not accepting new orders.  Orders placed before March 19th will be filled and they will be busy restocking their Pantry products.

Also, what is this about Amazon not shipping “non-essentials” anymore?

That’s a big misunderstanding.

You see, a lot of sellers ship their products to Amazon warehouses and sell their items through Amazon and Amazon uses the stock of products at their warehouses and sends them out for the seller.  Third party sellers pay a fee for this service – to store their products at Amazon warehouses and have Amazon ship them.

Amazon is stopping it’s third party vendors from shipping “non-essentials” to their warehouses.  They are prioritizing baby essentials, food, paper products etc. from it’s third party vendors.  BUT anything they currently have in stock from third party vendors is still available for purchase and will ship!

So you can still shop Amazon for a new book, or board game for the kids or anything else you need during quarantine and as long as it’s in stock, it will ship.  Just be patient, it may not be as quickly as we are used too.
