The Chick-fil-a Cow Calendar (and freebie card) will not exist in 2019…. and that’s okay!
I’m here to tell you why!
Did you give Cow Calendars as gifts? Here is Chick-fil-a’s response:
We know that Cow Calendars were a popular giftable item, so we are stepping up our gift card game to make sure you have something to give those most special to you.
Purchase them from your local Chick‑fil‑A Restaurant or select retail locations where gift cards are sold.
So why is it okay that Cow Calendars (and the freebie card) are going away?
Because the Chick-fil-a One App is SO MUCH BETTER!
In a nutshell, here’s why:
- MORE rewards
- Better CHOICE of rewards
- Always with you (on your phone)

The Chick-fil-a One App is great! With the retiring of the calendar card, it has undergone some changes. But they are good changes! I think you’ll agree!
The first thing you might have noticed in the new app is now you have “points”. This is a good thing!
You’ll earn POINTS for what you spend and then you’ll have control over what you spend those points on! Giving you more freedom to choose what you want for free!
Starting out, you’ll be a silver member (more on that in a minute) and you’ll earn 10 points for every $1 you spend.
You can redeem points starting at 150 for a chocolate chunk cookie, hash browns or a small Icedream cone.
BUT if you want to, you can keep on adding to those points to redeem for something bigger!
Small or Medium Waffle Fries are 200 points. Drinks are 250 points. A chicken biscuit is 350. The point values go up but so do the freebies, sandwiches, nuggets, strips and even salads are all freebie options if you have the points!
After you earn your first 1000 points, you’ll be a silver member and you’ll start earning 11 points per dollar spent.
Above silver membership is RED MEMBER. Where you will earn 12 points per dollar spent AND you’ll get exclusive content through your app.
Excuse me while I go to Chick-fil-a to buy all the things and be a RED Member RIGHT NOW.
What do you think about the app changes?
***Update*** Trust me, I hear you! Many of you are upset about the changes. You miss the freebie card. I get it. But here are a few things to point out:
-
I’m not Chick-fil-a so getting mad at *me* doesn’t do any good. Some of the comments use the 2nd person ‘you’ directed at me. Instead of ‘Chick-fil-a’ in the third person.
-
Chick-fil-a won’t see the comments you leave here on my blog, Saving Toward a Better Life. I’m just a person, unaffiliated with Chick-fil-a trying to make the best of the new changes. Being positive goes a long way!
-
The program is new. You should at least give it a chance!

The biggest complaint I hear is “I miss the freebies.”
People, download the app!! I get freebies all the time! I got a FREE cookie as my birthday treat! In fact, I got a free cookie as a birthday treat from Chick-fil-a, then MY specific Chick-fil-a I frequent ALSO sent me a cookie freebie for my birthday. About once or twice a quarter (3 months) I get one or two “just because” freebies (free sandwich, free nuggets, etc) issued by certain locations but that can be redeemed at any location. And once, I ate a Chick-fil-A I had never been to before and next time I opened the app, that location had issued me a “thanks for stopping by” free sandwich that I could redeem at any location.
So don’t knock the app until you try it. I mentioned above, it opens up the door to MORE FREEBIES.
I don’t have access to an app. i need your calendar.
Thank you.
I have been a faithful Chick Fil a fan and devoted supporter. To discontinue is a horrible idea. People want both. The app and the calendar.
To Whom It May Concern
I am very disappointed in Chic fil a for not having the cow calendars anymore. My daughter in law loved them & it was always part of her Christmas. If you want to take the coupons out fine but don’t stop the calendar.

It’s disappointing that everything has to be automated, every year we would look forward to getting a calendar the old fashioned way, guess we must adapt, seems to me it was simpler w buying the calendar, why complicate it?
SUCKS! if you don’t have a phone
Usually give one to mom and dad every year
I hate to see the calendar go away.
I also like giving the calendar as Christmas gifts.
I don’t like the idea. My parents do not have smart phones so they don’t have the app – they could only use the card. As for me, I won’t earn points fast enough to gain the same amount of freebies I get with the calendar card. Plus I liked the calendars – I’ve always hung them in my kitchen eat in area all year.
It’s not better. Last year I spent $8 on a calendar and got treats once monthly without spending a dime. Thumbs down.
Unanimous! I believe your corporate executives made a poor decision. The new app gives silver customers a whole point per dollar spent? A real winner there! Gold gets another extra point, too? Tell me it’s not so! Think I’ll go down the road for a calendar
What a disappointment!
Next, waffle fries and barbecue sauce going away?
Silver earns 11 points per dollar spent.
Bah-Hum Bug!!! You got this one wrong. Bring back the cow calendar and keep the app too!!!!
A calendar doesn’t crash. This app does.
The app is inefficient. They have not worked out the bugs.
Some genius at Chik fil A decided to eliminate the calendars in favor of an app with points to see how much work customers will put in a rewards program over having a cashier scan their calendar card once a month for a freebie. It makes sense; the more visits, the more points, the more money for Chik Fil A.
EXCEPT…
The app was released without being ready for prime time.
At our last visit to Chick Fil A, we tried to order some extra food after we realized the cashier forgot to order another sandwich. We were sitting at the Chik Fil A in-house table for app orders. The app kept freezing, crashing.
The button for placing the order would not display on the app. We ended up walking back to the cashier and ordered the food. We still had the app on the phone. The app order button showed up 10 minutes later.
Get rid of the app and bring it back AFTER the engineers have fixed the errors.
In the meantime, again, they need to bring back the calendar. It won’t crash.
We need the app and the calendar. I loved the calendar the photos the inspiritational quotes and its still a good gift to give. Cannot give the app as a gift. And what about my mom or grandma that dont use the app? Bring the calendar back
I think it’s a shame to get rid of cow calendar. Who ever thought of getting rid of the cow calendar wasn’t very bright. Everyone loved it for thierself or as a gift
I didn’t realize they discontinued the colander just bought one on eBay didn’t care about the card so much enjoyed the calendars I thought it was a calendar for this year so sad they’re done making them I’m not good with apps so that doesn’t interest me thank you
