We stayed one night in the Holiday Inn, Meridian.   For a one night stay, it was everything you need in a hotel.

It was right off the interstate – which made it convenient.  There are a few dining options in the immediate area, but they’re mostly on the other side of the highway.  There was a Waffle House in walking distance of the hotel and that’s what we ate for dinner on our arrival night.

The hotel had the appearance of being fairly new.  Or it could’ve just been a really good remodel.  Our room was comfortable and of average size for a hotel room.  The beds were comfortable.  My favorite feature might possibly have been the in-room Keurig coffee maker!

This is the first time I’ve seen that in a hotel.  But I travel with a couple of my favorite K-Cups now, just in case I happen upon this somewhere else!

The hotel does not provide continental breakfast.  But there is a restaurant in the lobby that does serve breakfast.

They have a fitness center.  There is a (small) indoor pool and no outdoor pool.  Their pictures on Hotels.com make the pool area look larger than it is.  We were just there for the one night (arrived late in the afternoon and departing first thing the next morning) – but the indoor pool was a draw for us on this stay – it gave Bug something to do for couple hours until time to clean up and go get dinner.

There is an outdoor sitting area outside of the pool area – accessible only from the pool.  The hotel is off of the interstate and on the main highway.  So the outdoor seating area is not quiet or peaceful because of all the traffic.

Holiday Inn Meridian E I 20/I 59 has a 8.6 (out of 10) rating on Hotels.com.  I feel like that is a fair rating.  I probably would’ve given it a 7.  It was a clean hotel and suited our purposes.  But it wasn’t spectacular.  If we had been staying in the area for any length of time, the pool situation would not have worked for us.  And the breakfast was mediocre.  I’ve had free continental breakfasts that were just as good as the basic breakfast we paid for.

I booked the Holiday Inn Meridian E I 20/I 59, through Hotels.com.  I paid $150 for our one night (that also included breakfast for 2 – there is a restaurant in the hotel but not a complimentary breakfast).  It’s a nice hotel but I would check other ones on future trips for lower rates.  Hotels.com lists $99 as its lowest rate.  I did a few date searches into 2018 and found rates ranging from $108 to $139.  (If you opt out of the breakfast for 2 option, you can book at $108-$117.  $129-$139 includes breakfast – honestly, I would book at the lower rate and eat breakfast somewhere else or just pay out of pocket in the restaurant.)

They do have executive rooms with seating areas and meeting rooms.  For business travel this is probably a spot-on hotel.  For family travel, it was just okay.  I would check out other hotels in the area before I paid $150/night for this one again.  If it were available for my travel dates for $99/night though, I would absolutely stay here again.
