February 20, 2017, is National Love Your Pet Day! If you have pets you know they are part of your family. They’re so easy to love. Around here we sure love our Ladybug! She brightens our days with her silly antics and kitty snuggles. We named her Lady Guinevere and it went to her head and now she thinks she’s the Queen of the household (and most days I let her be!)
Keep reading for a few ways to show a little extra love to your pets whether they be feline or canine! Happy Love Your Pet Day!
If you want to show your pet a little extra love in honor of National Love Your Pet Day, you can always treat them to a few extra goodies! Lady is very playful so we keep lots of toys around to keep her engaged!
This Turbo Cat Scratcher is next on my list of things to get her. We have one of these Cat Dancer Cat Charmer Wands and Lady LOVES it. It’s also the most durable “string on a stick” toy I’ve ever owned. And it just makes her go crazy. She loves it. Every kitty needs one!
This is the first time I’ve seen this Fly By Spinner Interactive Toy but I think Lady would love it! What do you think? Does your kitty need this? And make sure your kitty has plenty of things to scratch on so they won’t scratch on your couch and curtains!
Does your household love a pup or two (or three)? Dog lovers want the best for their furry companions, and that’s really easy to do when you make your own dog treats. So many treats on the market have questionable ingredients and/or product recalls, making treat time scary. Making your own treats is extremely easy to do, and your dog will thank you – trust me, mine goes nuts every time I bake a batch. He waits in the kitchen by the oven, it’s hysterical! A recipe for Peanut Butter Bones from Carrington Farms is below, using all natural and yummy dog-friendly ingredients.
Peanut Butter Bones
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup honey
1 tablespoon of Carrington Farm’s Virgin Coconut Oil
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Whisk together peanut butter, honey, oil and chicken broth. In a separate bowl, combine flours and oatmeal. Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients.
Place dough on flour dusted surface. Roll or press dough out to about 1/4″ inch thick. Use a small bone cookie cutter to cut out cookies. The size is up to you, depending on the size of your dog. Roll out leftover scraps and cut out as many as possible.
Put cut out cookies on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 14-16 minutes. Transfer to a cooling rack.
Store at room temp in an airtight container for about a week, or longer if you store in the refrigerator.
