Can Existing Amazon Prime Members Get the $67 Price on 9/25?

I have heard one question over and over since the news was announced that Amazon is discounting their Prime Membership to just $67 on 9/25.

Can I get this deal if I am already a Prime Member?

Technically, this special discount is only valid for new members.

BUT you can still buy a gift subscription and email it to yourself. Then you have to cancel auto-renew on your existing Prime membership and wait for it to expire.  When it expires, use the gift code you sent to yourself for a new year of Prime!

Well, I stayed up all night to test this theory.  BUT the price of Amazon Prime on the GIFT SUBSCRIPTION page is not changing.  This worked last time Prime was on sale.  But it appears that Amazon figured that out and put a stop to it.  Sorry guys!  If I notice a change later I will update!

How do I cancel auto-renew?

Go to your account page (it’s at the top right hand side of the page when you’re logged in) Scroll down the page to your account settings where it says “manage prime membership”. Click there and you will see an option to have it renew automatically or not. Just set it NOT to renew.

If you get the $67 Prime deal but don’t want it to renew next year for $99, be sure to do this too at some point before your subscription expires.
