While the life lessons, skills and knowledge gained in the classroom are undoubtedly invaluable, many of the 3.4 billion American K-12 public school teachers who are going above and beyond to make a difference in their students’ lives are paying a very real price—92% of teachers are using up to $1,000 of their own paychecks to purchase critical classroom resources, or $1.3 billion every school year. 1
To help raise awareness and funds for teachers’ classroom supplies, Office Depot launched its “Teachers Change Lives. So Can You” campaign and partnered with AdoptAClassroom.org, a national organization dedicated to collecting and distributing funds to educators, to uncover the extraordinary stories of nine teachers nationwide—including a science professor who raps to explain the laws of physics and a pre-engineering teacher who turns old bike parts into prosthetic limbs—whose diverse teaching skills and unique education approaches help students while inspiring others to make a difference by giving back. Check out their stories and more, here.
