“I think as you grow older your Christmas list gets smaller and the things you really want for the holidays can’t be bought.”
I came across this quote the other day and it really struck a chord. The last few years, I haven’t been able to come up with anything to ask for for Christmas. And I don’t want anyone (not even Hubs) to “surprise” me with anything or try to find the perfect gift.
I’m not trying to be all “Bah Humbug.” I do enjoy the holidays. And I love to give, want to give. I like shopping for other people. But there’s nothing you can put in a box and wrap with a bow that I want for Christmas.
What do I want for Christmas?
1. More kids. Bug was our miracle that we weren’t supposed to have and for 5 years I’ve held out hope that a miracle would strike twice.
2. My Mom. I haven’t shared a Christmas with my Mom since 2007.
3. More time with family. My mom was the glue to our family. Since her death, we don’t get together as much as we used too.
4. More peace of mind. More certainty of the future, less worry over finances, more job security for Hubs, a college fund for Bug. Sometimes I feel like we just can’t get ahead.
So, there you have it. The things I want that can’t be put under the tree.
What do you wish you could put in a box and put under the tree this Christmas?
