Salmon Patties
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup flour & extra for coating
- 2 Tbsp buttermilk*
- 1 can salmon, drained
- oil
Remove bones from salmon. Put in mixing bowl and break up with fork. Season with salt, pepper and garlic salt. Mix in buttermilk and 1/2 cup flour. Form into patties and coat with extra flour.
Fry in skillet of hot oil (just enough oil to coat the bottom of the skillet) til brown. Flip and fry other side until brown.
*Make your own buttermilk
I hate buying buttermilk because it always goes to waste. I only use it to make salmon patties and biscuits and I don’t use that much even for those recipes. Here’s a way to make buttermilk when a recipe calls for it:
add 1 Tbsp lemon juice or vinegar to 1 cup milk. let sit for a few minutes. stir and use!
I think I might try these this week…. Thanks for sharing!
You are most welcome! They really are delicious and they're like a comfort food from my childhood! :) Best served with mashed potatoes and/or macaroni and cheese. :)
