your ad stated that you were open from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm on Christmas Day. When we arrived at 2:50 pm the store was closing and we weren’t allowed in by the manager. The Winn-Dixie we went to was in Delray Beach Florida on Military Trail and Atlantic Ave. There were many disappointed shoppers turned away who had read the same ad.
Elsa – I’m not affiliate with Winn-Dixie. I’m am merely a blogger reporting the information from the same ad you had.

I would love to encourage folks to STAY HOME on holidays! Every penny you spend gives retailers an excuse to keep their employees away from their loved ones the next year. As the wife of a retail employee I cannot express how awful it is to try to explain to your children why their Daddy has to leave on holidays — it’s so heart wrenching. So … PLEASE STAY HOME!
Lisa – it’s a noble thought but my husband works for Winn-Dixie and it was COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY to work on Christmas day and they were paid time and a half PLUS holiday pay.
I’ve also heard that the dugstores that are open pay the employees triple pay that day and it’s also voluntary. So…when money is tight and you have the chance to earn extra, I say go for it. Some people who volunteer to work that day (a) may not have anywhere else to go or (b) may not observe the holiday in the traditional way or (c) really need that extra money.
It’s not all bad that they are open on Christmas.
