Roku? What?

So, I’m not very “up” with technology.  I just happen to come across a Roku 2100X XDS Streaming Player.

A Roku?  Never heard of it.  Don’t even know what to call it.  “Rok-u?”  “Row-koo?”

Someone (far smarter than me) please enlighten me on these strange devices!
