Couponing at Walmart

I am not the biggest fan of Walmart. I started couponing to avoid Walmart. I feel like every time I walk in that store a piece of my soul is stolen away from me!

But all that aside, their new coupon policy has made it a little nicer to shop there. I had a very pleasant (well, ok…it wasn’t pleasant but it wasn’t tortuous either…) visit a couple weeks ago.

I got all this in the picture, plus 2 bags of Tidy Cats Litter and a small bag of M&Ms (somehow, the candy never makes it into the picture…) And yes, the step stool was part of the purchase as well (the most item at $4.97)

Retail cost was $37.44. I paid $15.09 +tax!!! That’s 60% in savings just with coupons!

The most notable thing about Walmart’s coupon policy is that it allows for overage.

In this purchase, the three Dial lotions, two travel size shampoos, Dove bar soap and two small lint rollers all resulted in overage. The lotions were $1.97 and I had $2 coupons. The lint rollers were 94c and the other three items were 97c – all of which I had $1 coupons for! Which means I “made” 30c off those items (of course, it went right into the other things I bought).

I paid 77c/ea for the two bags of cat litter (not pictured) after coupon. The cat treats were 57c/ea after coupons. The Benadryl sticks in the back were 28c after coupon. The big pack of toilet paper ($2.98 after coupon) and the step stool were the only things in my transaction that I paid over $1 for!

I used Couponing to Disney’s AWESOME under $1 list for Walmart to make my shopping list!
