28 Ways to Save on Anything – GIFTS! Part 2 – Special Occasion Gifts

Join me everyday in February as I share ways to save money on just about anything you need, want, use!

Yesterday we talked about Christmas gifts.  Today we’re going to talk about Special Occasion gifts.  Wedding, baby shower, that sort of thing.

You can apply some of the same ideas I shared yesterday on Christmas gifts.

You also need to read the post on how to save on greeting cards too!  (Because, seriously, who wants to pay $5 for a card??)

So, how do you save money when it seems like every time you blink you’re getting a baby shower or wedding invitation in the mail???

Stockpile gifts!  Yes, you can stockpile gifts.  Cheap diapers = baby shower gift!   Cheap detergent, dryer sheets, paper towels, etc + laundry basket and hangers = wedding shower or housewarming gift  (I did this!)  Picture frames, candles, etc can make a nice wedding or housewarming gift too.  These are items I stock up on when I can get them for cheap or free.  Anytime you are using items you already have on hand, you are saving money!

Hit those clearance racks!  I’ve said before that Walmart and Target have incredible clearance racks for kids / babies.  I have found outfits for $1 beforeMore than once even!  I’ve seen everything from onesies, to rompers, to two piece outfits in the little sizes (0, 3, 6 months) for $1 at Walmart.  I always grab a couple (boy and girl) to keep on hand. Four or five of the items grouped together make a good baby shower gift!

Gift cards.  You care earn giftcards to Target, Walmart and more with MyPoints.  Gift cards make great gifts for baby showers or weddings!

Get creative!  Offer the new mom-to-be free housecleaning for the first few weeks after the baby is born, or stock the freezer with a week’s worth of casseroles (Good idea for newlyweds too!  Include the recipes to each on a cute recipe card too!)
