28 Ways to Save on Anything – Getting coupons

Join me everyday in February as I share ways to save money on just about anything you need, want, use!

This is the last day of the series, I hope you’ve enjoyed it and learned a few things!

We need coupons to score the great the deals that keep our spending low.  But coupons cost too.  (A Sunday paper ranges from $2.00-$2.75!)  So how do we save money acquiring the coupons we need?

Here are some ideas:

  • Get your Sunday papers from the Dollar Tree (they’re only $1!)  On big insert Sunday’s the go fast though.  So try to be there when they open.
  • Ask friends/family/neighbors if they will save the inserts out of their papers for you.
  • Check with businesses that you frequent that get the paper (think places with waiting rooms – oil change, doctors office, hairdresser).  They may be willing to save the Sunday inserts for you as long as you stop by there weekly to take them off their hands.
  • Dumpster Diving?  It’s not for everyone but if your up for it, you can read the 10 steps to dumpster diving for coupons.

What about when it comes to printing coupons?  Paper and ink can add up!

  • Compare prices and find the best deals on printer ink.  I use Simply Ink.
  • Recycle paper for your coupons.  Check your junk mail, if the letter inside is blank on the back, use the back to print coupons on (just make sure there isn’t an personal information on the front!)  It doesn’t matter what’s on the back of printed coupons.  You can recycle notes from your kids school, memos from work, junk mail, something you printed that you can’t use (misprints, first drafts of school assignments, etc).  Anything that’s blank on the back is prime coupon printing space!
  • Adjust your printer settings.  Coupons don’t have to be in color and they don’t have to be high quality.  Adjust your computer to print in black and white and “normal” or “fast draft” instead of “best”.
