28 Ways to Save on Anything – Fun crafts/activities for the kids!

Join me everyday in February as I share ways to save money on just about anything you need, want, use!

Keeping the kids entertained doesn’t have to be expensive!

There are a lot of great websites that have “rainy day ideas”.  You know, they days you can’t send the kids outside.  :)  I am anti-“sit-around-and-play-video-games-all-day”.  I also teach kindergarten and work with K-3rd graders after school.

So…here are some sites I use for ideas and some of my favorite activities:

One thing that will get the K-3 crowd crafty with little effort is to cover a table with butcher paper and let them have at it with crayons, markers, pencils, stencils, etc.  This works better than providing coloring books!  Kids that would make a mark in a coloring book will tend to get drawn in to helping with our “mural”!

With spring coming up, you can make these inexpensive bird feeders and get the kids interested in what’s going on outside and introduce them to bird watching.

I use Kid Zone for a lot of ideas and resources.

Have you check the Dollar Tree?  They have craft kits for $1!  I made each of my nieces a bag full of stuff for Christmas that contained craft items I got at the Dollar Tree.  A favorite was the crowns – each pack contained a paper crown and a variety of glitter, gems and stickers to decorate them with.  Stock up on these things and keep them in that rainy day drawer when you need the kids to be still for a few minutes.  :)

Need to get out of the house for a little while?  Lakeshore Learning Centers have FREE kid’s crafts every Saturday!  Lowe’s has FREE Build and Grow clinics about once a month too!

How do you keep the kids entertained?
