Winn Dixie experienced some major problems with their debit and credit card transactions on both the day before Thanksgiving and on Thanksgiving day itself. Many customers at the 485 locations will notice that they were charged double for their purchases on those days.
The actual charges while in the store were correct so your receipt will not reflect the mistake. However there was an error of sorts with the actual card reporting and this caused some customers to be charged double.
If you shopped at a Winn Dixie location on or around Thanksgiving and used a debit or credit card to pay, it would be a good idea to take a look at your statement to make sure you were not one who was charged double.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and are working diligently to contact all customers affected by this situation and resolve the matter for them as quickly as possible,” a Winn Dixie Spokesman said. If you have any further questions you can call them at 866-946-6349.
There is still no word on what caused the error.
