12 Days of Christmas Traditions – Presents on Christmas Eve

One of my favorite things about Christmas is all the traditions.  And most of traditions don’t cost anything!  That’s the frugal side of Christmas!  :)))

So I’m going to bring you 12 Days of Christmas Traditions!  Hopefully you’ll find a couple in here that you can start doing!

I’m bringing you this feature early in the month, so you have time to plan if you choose to start any of these traditions yourself!

Twelve Days of Christmas Traditions – Day 1:
Getting a present on Christmas Eve

This is probably my favorite Christmas tradition from childhood.  Getting a present out from under the tree and opening it!  I couldn’t pick any present but my mom always had two or three things and she would say “Pick one of these.”  And I’d think, and I’d feel the presents, shake them.  And think some more.  And then I’d unwrap one.  It was always something I could use right then, a small toy, a book, a craft, nothing big but something to take the edge of the unnerving excitement that I always felt by Christmas Eve.  So since I liked it so much as a child, I carried the tradition into adulthood.  My husband and I have always exchanged a small gift on Christmas Eve!

What about you?  Do you open any gifts on Christmas Eve?
