Wegman’s is recalling two of their bags. The ‘Sweet Pea’ and ‘Holiday 2009’ bags.
They are claiming they are safe to use and the disposal is the only issue. You can return them to the store for a refund and they will see to it that they are properly disposed of to prevent the excess lead from getting into the environment.
If I may interject my personal opinion here – if they are worried about the lead being released in the environment after the bag is thrown away then can’t the lead be released while your using the bag? I’m returning all my recalled bags.
But, I will give Wegman’s credit. They are the only store with problem bags who had their recall information readily available on their website.
CVS and Winn Dixie have also recalled bags.
