Frugal Fun – Kid’s Crafts, part 1

I teach preschool, so kid’s crafts are a big part of my day!  One of the simplest things to do is to just put out paper and a variety of media- crayons, pencils, color pencils, stencils – markers, scissors, glue or paint if you’re brave, and let them go to town with it all!

I was considering using this idea at Bug’s birthday party as something for the kids to do.  Since he’s just turning 2 and most of the guests are of the under 4 crowd, I knew I was going to have to make it fool-proof.

A great thing to do is to use Kraft or Butcher paper and cover a table, taping it down well, and leaving your craft items of choice out.  (I think I’m going to just stick to crayons, given the age of the crowd.)

Want to get really frugal?  Brown Postal Wrapping Paper paper comes in smaller (and cheaper) rolls if you just need a little bit.

Ruth at Living Well, Spending Less has really latched on to this idea.  See how she has turned her dining room table into a craft center for her kids!   (And check back with me later to see how the idea at the birthday party turns out!)
