There wasn’t alot in last week’s Wal-Green’s ad that I wanted so I didn’t get by there until yesterday (Saturday). All I wanted was the free Colgate sensitve toothpaste and the BOGO bacon (which they were out of so I got a raincheck!). I was in a part of town yesterday that I don’t usually get too so I was eager to check out a Wal-Green’s that I had never been in. Besides the store being laid out COMPLETELY different that the two I usually go too…it was a pleasant experience. I found a couple clearance things that I wanted to brag about!
Here’s what I got:
Dixie Napkins – $1.69 *clearance!* (eligible for the Georgia Pacific rebate)
Q: 55c/any Dixie Napkin (1/24 RP)
= $1.14
Colgate EnamelProtect – $3.99
$3.99 RR wyb (this was last week’s sale so don’t run out and buy any!)
Q: 75c
=$3.24 OOP
Colgate Max Fresh – 75c *clearance!*
Q: $1/any Colgate Max Fresh (Jan AY)(x3/24)
=-25c (overage!)
Baby Orajel – $1.79 *clearance!*
Q: $1/any Orajel product (10/18 SS)
= 79c
Total before coupons – $8.22
Total OOP = $4.92
RR back – $4.00!!
Grand Total – 92c!!
I’m pretty proud! And most of it was just luck to have happened upon those clearance items! Keep your eyes peeled for the clearance items at Wal-Greens!!
That's awesome!! So I have to ask, do you bring your coupons to the store with you? I never do, but it seems I'm unable to take advantage of clearance deals that way…I'm scared of packing around too much stuff, but maybe it's worth it?
I'd love to answer that question :) I do not carry around ALL my coupons. Mainly because I don't clip them all. I keep the inserts intact and filed by date so when something goes on sale and the online matchups or coupontom.com shows where to find the coupon, I can find it quickly.
What I DO clip and keep in my organizer in my purse are coupons from AllYou, Parade or other magazines. Then when I see that there was a coupon I need from one of those, it's easy to find in my organizer.
I also clip all BABY coupons (which is how I had a coupon off orajel). And all PET coupons. Why those categories? Because that's where I have the best luck finding clearance or unadvertised deals and need the coupons right away. I also clip coupons that are about to expire or on products that currently have rebates (for example, the Dixie coupon I had because it was for the GP rebate). So, I was really lucky I had that one with me. :) If it weren't for the rebate, I wouldn't have had it with me!
I've thought about keeping my inserts in the car in case I come across something but since I'm shopping with the baby 95% of the time and shopping on my lunch break the other 5% of the time I've decided that it would just be a hassle or too time-consuming to run out to the car for a coupon. :)
