Pizza Casserole
This IS as yummy as it looks! It’s Hub’s favorite recipe! I’ve made it two ways – with ground beef and ground sausage. We like the ground sausage best. I seasoned the sausage with some Italian seasoning as I was browning it.
This recipe can easily be doubled. Or even halved. The picture is half the recipe. I didn’t want leftovers. I saved the other half of my sausage to make sausage balls for breakfast.
Ingredients:
- 10 oz of Noodles – I’ve done elbow macaroni and egg noodles. Ziti and Penne would work too.
- 2 Jars of Pizza Sauce
- Mozarella cheese (2-3 cups depending on how much you like cheese)
- 1 to 1.5 pound of ground beef or ground sausage – browned and drained
- 1 package of pepperoni (I never use a whole pack)
Directions:
Brown and drain meat. Cook noodles until barely tender – you do not want to overcook!
Preheat oven to 350.
Sprinkle cheese on the bottom of your baking dish. Add a (not too deep) layer of noodles.
Top with half the meat and half the sauce. Add another layer of noodles. Top with half the cheese, then the remainder of the meat. Pour on the rest of the sauce. Top with the rest of the cheese and cover with pepperoni.
Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 5 (sometimes I’ll toss some more cheese over it when I take the foil off).
Let the casserole sit for 10 minutes after baking or it will fall apart.
