Cinco de Mayo is on it’s way! Ole! Cinco de Mayo is celebrated annually to honor the day in 1862 when the Mexican army defeated France at the Battle of Puebla, during the Franco-Mexican War. Contrary to popular belief, the occasion does not commemorate Mexican independence, as this occurred more than 50 years prior. Cinco de Mayo is more popular in the US than it is in Mexico – true story. And just like how everyone gets to be Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, on May 5, 2016, everyone gets to be Hispanic!
