Monday’s Money Saving Recipe – Peanut Butter Marshmallow Crackers

When I was a kid I thought this was the BEST SNACK EVER. And even as an adult, I still think it’s pretty darn good.

As a kid, I loved it because even at 4 years old, I got to help make it. It was such a treat that I loved every time we did it. Looking back, I know WHY we had it so much – it’s cheap to make!

I introduced Bug to this snack a couple weeks ago. Much to my delight, he loves it too!

  • Take saltine crackers
  • Spread with Peanut Butter
  • Add marshmallows

As a kid, I was meticulous about getting NINE marshmallows on the cracker.  Nine is the perfect number.  They puff up just a little when they are cooked so it covers the cracker completely.  In the picture , I made a smiley face on one for Bug and I’m sure you can tell the ones he did.  ;)

Now comes the tricky part, broil in the oven for about 3 minutes (if the oven has been preheated which I suggest).   You want the tops of the marshmallows to be golden brown.

I was a little out of practice when I made these – some of them got a tad too dark but they were still delicious.  Just be warned that the difference in perfect and burnt is literally a matter of seconds.

Enjoy!
