Teddy Bear Facts and Deals for National Teddy Bear Day, September 8th

National Teddy Bear Day is September 9th!

Did you have a favorite teddy bear when you were a kid?  I did!

Here are some fun bear facts for today:

  • In 1902, U.S.  President Theodore Roosevelt, also known as Teddy Roosevelt, was out hunting.  Not having any luck, his hunting companions found a bear cub and tied it to a tree so he could shoot it.  He refused to do it.  The story spread quickly and stuffed bears became known as Teddy’s Bears – teddy bears.
  • The world’s largest stitched teddy bear was made in 2008.  The 55-foot-4 creation is named C.T.Dreams, which stands for Connect the Dreams, and you can visit it at the Exploration Place in Wichita, Kansas.
  • Magellan T. Bear became the first teddy bear in space when he boarded Space Shuttle Discovery in 1995. He was a project for a Colorado elementary school. The teddy bear later flew around the world, visited the South Pole, and more.

I could only find one deal for National Teddy Bear Day:
