Fun 4th of July Craft: Fireworks Painting

We first did this 2 years ago and Bug asks to do it again every time it’s “fireworks” time… new years, 4th of July… I think he’d rather paint them than see them.  So with the 4th just around the corner, I thought I remind you of this fun activity for the kids!

What you need:

  • Watercolors and paintbrush
  • Water
  • Drinking Straw
  • Paper

Wet the watercolors and get a good amount on your brush and dab it on the paper.  Then take your drinking straw and blow.  The result looks like fireworks exploding in the sky.

Make sure to blow at the dot of paint one time real hard.  That’s the best way to get the right effect.  If you blow gently (like blowing a bubble) it doesn’t work as well.

Make your own fireworks indoors, during the day this 4th with this easy craft!
