Cinco de Mayo is on it’s way!  Ole!  Cinco de Mayo is celebrated annually to honor the day in 1862 when the Mexican army defeated France at the Battle of Puebla, during the Franco-Mexican War. Contrary to popular belief, the occasion does not commemorate Mexican independence, as this occurred more than 50 years prior.  Cinco de  Mayo is more popular in the US than it is in Mexico – true story.  And just like how everyone gets to be Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, on May 5, 2017, everyone gets to be Hispanic!

Here are some places you can get some specials on the fifth of May.  I will update more as I find them!

Restaurants:

Bahama Breeze – $5 Margaritas in a four-day Cinco de Mayo celebration. Get $5 Margaritas May 1-5, 2017  Some locations will also have parties on May 5 with live music.  Bahama Breeze announced the special on their Cinco de Mayo specials page.

Beef ‘O’ Brady’s –  $5.99 Taco special on Cinco de Mayo.  Get 2 tacos with chips and salsa for $5.99.  The chain announced the Cinco special on the Beef O’Brady’s Facebook Page.

Chili’s  –  Get a Cinco de Mayo cup that they can fill up with any beer or margarita for $5 on May 5.

Chipotle – I can’t find anything for Chipotle and I’m terribly disappointed!

Moe’s Southwest Grill – Come celebrate Cinco de Moe’s on Friday, May 5th with awesome food, fun and a free t-shirt while supplies last.

On the Border – $5 margaritas on May 5.

Retail:

None that I know of yet.

Miscellaneous:

If you over-do it on Happy Hour, don’t risk it.  Get a FREE tow from AAA!  Just call (855) 2-TOW-2-GO for a confidential tow within a 10-mile radius to a safe location. The program is provided as a service by AAA and is free for drivers in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee, Nebraska and Iowa, and not just current auto club members. The free ride is offered for Cinco de Mayo beginning Friday, May 5 through 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 6. Although the ride is free and confidential, there are some restrictions and guidelines. Get more info.

If you are in the Washington DC/Maryland/Virginia Area you can call SoberRide for a free cab ride home.  Call 1-800-200-TAXI.  AT&T customers can dial #9727.  Available from 4pm Friday to 4am Saturday.

Stay home and make your own Cinco de Mayo dishes!

I’m a big fan of these Homemade Chicken Taquitos.  And personally, I think *I* make the best guacamole!
