Disney Planes Birthday Party!

Bug’s birthday party last October was Disney Planes!  He’s loved Planes since the first movie was in the theaters.  I know the movie hasn’t been Disney’s most popular but in our house, it’s #1!  In fact, Bug want a Planes party for his 6th birthday and he wanted to show the second Planes movie, Planes: Fire and Rescue, at his party.  We had to delay his party by a week until after the movie came out so we could fulfill his request.  :)

This post contains affiliate links and Shindigz provided some of the party supplies you see listed.

Disney Planes Party Supplies

Shindigz really came through for party supplies! (It’s not the first time!)   There weren’t any Planes party supplies in any store around me.  But Shindigz had all the Disney Planes Birthday Party Supplies I needed!

Our favorite was the Planes Dusty Standee.  You can see it in the picture above sitting on the floor.  All the kids loved it any wanted their picture taken with Dusty.  And the great thing about it is it can be displayed sitting on the floor like above or you can use the strips that it came with to hang it up!

So after the party we brought it home and now it’s hanging in Bug’s room.  He loves it!

Hanging behind Bug in the picture above is the Disney Planes Scene Setter Kit. It’s only $5.99 and made a great backdrop! Bug opened his presents in front of it.

Shindigz has regular Planes party supplies and Planes Fire & Rescue supplies.  We used these Disney Planes Danglers Pkg/12 to decorate too. They feature Dusty and his new fire & Rescue friends like Blade Ranger and Windlifter.

I decorated all the tables except the food table with blue tablecloths and made “cloud” placemats.   I did a terrible job of getting pictures of everything from the party.  This is the best picture of the cloud placemats I have:

Disney Planes Decorating KitI just free handed a cloud shape on white paper, cut it out and put a little tape on the back to make sure it would stay.

If you want something quick and easy for decorating, grab the Disney Planes Decorating Kit for $6.99.

Each Disney Planes Party Decorating Kit includes:

  • 3 – 20 x 23 inch wall banners
  • 5 – hanging airplanes
  • 4 – 5 x 7 inch ceiling pennants
  • 10 – 3 1/2 x 5 inch ceiling flags

Shidigz also has a Disney Planes Party Game.   It’s like pin the tail on the donkey – but it’s pin the decal on Dusty.  The kids LOVED this!   They wanted to play it over and over again!  I had some extra stickers and they used those too!

I also had a coloring table with crayons and printable Planes pictures.  And I found these cute pilot wings.  I copied a bunch of them and left them on the table with tape so the kids could make their own wings and wear them.  I don’t have the link because it’s from something I printed a long time ago.  But here’s some images you can browse through.

For Party Favors, I set up an old suitcase by the door for “Baggage Claim.”  Months before the party I found cute bags at Michael’s on clearance and silly straws in Disney Planes Table Coverorange and blue.  I used those bags and straws and also added inside each bag a foam glider (which you can always find a good deal on in bulk on Amazon, a couple Planes tattoos, and some Planes snacks.

Another great party decoration for your Planes party is the Disney Planes Table Cover – it turns your table into a runway!

You can see it on our food table below.  Which brings me too…

Disney Planes Birthday Party Food

I went simple this time on the food.  I usually go over the top.  We had pizza – thank goodness for a Little Cesar’s down the road with their $5 hot and ready pizzas!

I did Veggie Straws and Pretzels and I made some “Cloud Parfait”.  (Blue Jello and Whipped Cream in a bowl).

And I made cookies.  That plus cake/cupcakes and that was plenty!  I put a couple buckets of ice at the end of the table for a “Fueling Station” – juice boxes, bottled water and sodas for the grownups.

Disney Planes Birthday Cake

The next request he had was “a cake with Planes all over it”.  Simple enough!

I purchased this Disney PLANES Figure Play Set Playset – Racers Edition set from Amazon. These are small, plastic replicas, not the larger diecast ones – making them perfect for putting on top of a cake!

I baked a regular round cake and put a cupcake on top – not directly in the center.  I iced it blue for sky and added some white clouds.  I was pleased with how they clouds turned out – I just free handed them.  I trimmed it in orange and wrote his name on the side and his age on the cloud that was front and center.

Then adding the plastic planes was easy!  Dusty on top of the cupcake of course.  Even the planes on the side stuck there easily without any trouble.  And the planes doubled as a great birthday gift!  Bug had been asking for all the other planes characters for a LONG time.  He only had a Dusty at home.

If you want a Planes Fire & Rescue Party you can get the Disney PLANES: Fire & Rescue 10 Piece PVC Figure Play Set [Pontoon Dusty, Blade Ranger, Windlifter, Lil’ Dipper, Mayday, Dynamite, Avalanche, Blackout, Drip & Pinecone] and use the fire & rescue characters on the cake.

I hope this helped you with your Disney Planes Birthday Party Ideas!
