Preschool Project/Frugal Kid’s Halloween Craft – Tissue Paper Pumpkins

This week’s Preschool Project is also a Frugal Halloween Craft if you need one more thing to keep the kids busy!  This craft centers on tuning fine motor skills in preschoolers but is great for keeping older kids busy too!

You will need:

  • paper plate (we use the small ones but you can make BIG pumpkins if you want!  The cheapest, flimsiest paper plates work best for this.  You can also cut circles out of cardstock or construction paper)
  • Orange Crayon
  • Orange Tissue paper cut in small squares (1 inch or so)
  • Glue
  • Small piece of green construction paper for the stem (or you can just color a scrap of paper green)

Directions:

Color plate/circle orange.  Swirl glue around plate.  “Scrunch” the tissue paper up and stick it in the glue.  The “scrunching” part helps with little motor skills.  Have them hold the piece of tissue paper in their hand and make a fist around it.  That’s what we call “scrunching”.

When you’re finished, add a green stem to the top.

If you want to make jack o lantern faces, cut out shapes out of black construction paper and glue them on top of the tissue paper.
