Update on the $70 challenge. Only a week to go!

I shopped yesterday and today.  Yesterday I was at a Dollar Tree that I don’t normally go to and they had a big selection of grocery items that my local one doesn’t have.  There cereal bars are 6 in a pack for $1.  I get these for my son for breakfast.  (Between a cereal bar and a yogurt for breakfast, I’m spending less that 30c PER breakfast for my son.  You can’t beat that with a stick!)  They also had boxed pasta salad mixes for $1 each (which are not cheap and I rarely find a really good deal on) and their 4 pack applesauce cups are $1.  When fruit cup packages break down to 25c/cup that’s a good deal!  And coin wrappers are a necessity around here since Hubs refuses to spend change!  It just piles up.  So I end up giving him cash out of the grocery budget for his change, rolling it and cashing it out at the bank to put back in the grocery budget.

This purchase was $6.54 which I think is good for what I got.

Here are my two transactions at Walgreens yesterday:

It was $14.73 plus $3.79 tax (gotta love paying tax on pre-coupon price in the great state of AL!).  So $18.52 total for two pizzas, Chex Mix, two folders, two rulers, two pencils, a razor, Dr. Scholl’s inserts, and Neosporin.

And I have $5 RR left.

(On a side note, if you will notice at the bottom of the picture, the oven is being preheated to fix those two pizzas.  That was dinner last night….and tonight…  Both pizzas were $6 after coupons and RR.  Not bad for two meals!)

No pictures for what I spent today.  I went to Walgreens and got Dr. Scholl’s inserts, a folder, pencil and ruler.  Spent $3.44 tax included and got $5 RR back.

Went to CVS and got 2 Pantene shampoos, 1 Fuze beverage, a pack of razor cartridges, jumbo pack Huggies and a gallon of milk.  Spent $20.68 tax included and got $10 RR back.

My previous total was $76.65.  I’ve spent $49.18 in the last two days.  That leaves me with $27.47.  But I’ve also gotten two rebate checks totaling $8.88, which means I have $36.35 left to spend in July!

And probably the greatest thing about it, is the 3 folders, 3 rulers and 3 pencils I bought are going to the school supply donations being taken up by my church.  So I’m staying in my budget, but still helping others!
